C’était un Rendez-vous
Experimental
On an August morning in 1976, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris.
No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.
No dialogue, just the squeal of tyres and the roar of the engine. Breathtakingly insane.

In more detail from the Making OF
The film shows an eight-minute drive through Paris at 5.30 AM in August from Porte Dauphine to Montmartre in a Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9.
The soundtrack is dubbed with the sound from a Ferrari 275GT
In the Making Of he goes on to say that on the second straight (starting at 45 sec) he hits “deux cents normalement” that is 200kph – normally!!
When asked why he drove a Mercedes and not a sports car to make the drive he responses “specifically for the suspension – to give a more fluid ride/image”.
When asked about the rumlour that a professional driver drove the car Claude Lelouch laughs and says “no it was me”.

Although often cited as using a 275, this was filmed from a camera under the bumper of a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9, with an automatic transmission – the sound was edited onto the film.
it’s not a ferrari, for starters the sounds are all out of wack, the car too slow and the suspension too soft… its a old Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9.
The information you claim is false.
The video is of a saloon car with sounds of a Ferrari added later.
Research articles you post up.
The GTB’s engine was music to my ears!
That’s b*llocks. It was Lelouch driving and it was a Mercedes. Too many myths about this admittedly hair-raising film.
@John, this Information is the plot description of live-action short movie, not documental film 🙂
Is this really a Ferrari??
Theres a similar series to this called Getaway in Stockholm where they hoon through the city.
Love the sound of the engine
Amazing, I have never seen such a thing.
Um…. Videos like this are all over YouTube for free, why would someone buy such a thing?

I was impressed with this when I saw it 20 years ago, now I am way too skeptical, it’s an obvious fake. Hollywood tyres that squeal around minor bends as he passes taxi’s at +10% speed (what 50-60kms) and fourth gear down a straight and still marginally passing slow side lane cars.. hmm, I wish it were true but it’s so not. In fact now for me it’s hardly impressive.
