Until this day I’ve never wanted to post a comment even on my favorite movies, but I could not help saying a word about this loveliest, brilliant little animation. When I watched it for the first time I had a feeling of warmth, serenity and happiness. I was happy that human beings can still create such beautiful things in this world. by Mary Jay

I rather enjoy tht old film look. KInd of sad and pathetic. Perhps the view of one’s life. How everything just doesn’t matter at all.
There may be a lot of items in a ‘canvas’ but idoesn’t matter.
Also, speaks of solidarity. How lonely it can get when your face shows no life which can come from not having any expectations. Him looking at so many images may point to how he misses the past.
When the water fills the town, time has caught up to him and he can’t do anything else but just play along ith the circumstances he himself has made.
The character, with his attitude, just goes about the best he can. The moment he puts on a scuba divng suit shows his attempt to do something about his lost item or his lost time as you may. As he dives in, past memories come up that he is forcing himself to remember, showing all the time that has gone through.
On a sidenote, this is quite hypnotizing. When he reaches the bottom of the ‘sea’ floor, his memory reaches way back. When he brings back his glass and drinks from it, he toasts to his lifetime journey that is his life

I’ve never cried watching any sort of animated film until watching this. Very moving and thought-provoking. Superb.
This is perhaps one of the most beautiful short animations I’ve seen in my life. The recent movie “Up” had a similar theme, but it lacked depth as it was intended for a younger audience. The wide range of emotions involved evoke a soul-stirring experience, and the superb music allows this expertly crafted work, to transcend its deceptively humble beginnings. I truly can say that my life is better for having spent ten minutes watching this film. Bravo!
I love this short very much. I remembered watching the academy awards with my ex girl friend at her house and we said that we will watch it together some day. She then found it online and gave me the link to it and she told me how she hasn’t cried in such a long time. At the time I watched it I felt it. But now that I’m not with her anymore I cry even more because it reminds me of her. When I watched Disney’s Up it gave me that same feeling. I’m still in the process of healing. This is by far my favorite animated short film because of the art and the beautiful music.
I cried. I’m a sophomore, and this made me cry.
This is one of the most beautiful short films I’ve ever watched.

A wonderful story……. Just goes to show you that you really don’t have to use words to tell a moving story…..
Beautiful short. I am an amateur writer. This short inspires me way beyond any previous inspiration. It makes me wish i could write with the same kind of wordless approach. but this can only be achieved through music and film, well, because it wouldnt be a book without any words now would it?

Unique creative vision! Unlike most of the modern animations which lack the imagination of a painter. Watching ‘ La Maison en Petits Cubes ‘ was like a walk through the corridors of Louvre.
